Everything Old Is New Again At Dante On Macdougal Street In Greenwich Village

Dante NYC is not a newcomer to the neighborhood. Originally called Caffe Dante, the former coffee shop has been around since 1915 as a meeting spot for locals back when it was a predominantly Italian neighborhood. Since then, Dante has transformed into a modern Italian restaurant featuring delicious food, world class cocktails, and an award-winning bar program.

Located in the heart of Greenwich Village, Dante has been a local spot since it first opened its doors in 1915. Dante recently underwent a transformation under new ownership, combining the best of historical integrity and sense of community with elevated, modern ambiance and fantastic food and drink offerings.

The extensive cocktail menu features classic and whimsical cocktails like Bellini (rose, poached peach puree, prosecco) and Hotel Nacional Special (plantation pineapple, apricot, fluffy pineapple, lime, pok pok maldon) and limited-time #SummerofSpritz cocktails like Bottled Cucumber & Elderflower Spritz (Hendrick's, St. Germain, cucumber puree, lemon, maldon salt, soda) and Bicicletta (campari, dry Italian white wine, violent carbonation)

The Burrata is an absolute must. The melt-in-your-mouth, creamy burrata topped with sea salt is served with beautiful whole tomato that's been roasted in pizza oven for 12 hours. The drizzle of basil oil and toasted rye complement the dish.

The entrees are great for sharing. The perfectly cooked Halibut is served on top of frisee salad of sauteed asparagus, snap peas, and watermelon radish. The savory nettle chimichurri on top adds a nice flavor to the fish.

The Pappardelle at Dante is excellent, too. The hamdmade pasta, with its chewy texture, is prepared in rich wild boar ragu made with pomodoro and red wine. The pasta is served with generous amount of parmigiano on top.
