We ordered the Buffal Tenders ($8.29) appetizer to share.
Three pieces of boneless chicken tenders tossed in Buffalo sauce came out with a side of bleu cheese dressing, cucumbers and celery.
The buffalo tenders were fried crisply with spicy tobasco sauce on the outside.
The tenders could definitely use more tobasco sauce because it wasn't spicy enough.
I personally didn't dip the tenders in blue cheese dressing because I figured it would be too rich.
I was hesitant about eating the buffalo tenders because of my strict rule on "No Fried food."
I ultimately gave in, but regretted the decision right away. I should have either not eaten it at all or eat it right away because the tenders became cold really quickly. Fried food is best when eaten right away.
The meat wasn't as tender as the name suggests, probably because it's chicken breast. The outside wasn't that crispy either.
My friend ordered the brunch menu featuring 4 oz steak cooked rare, scrambled eggs, toast, and fried potatoes ($12.49).
The steak was sprinkled with parsley and scallions.
The scrambled eggs looked slightly dry. Nothing too special about the toast.
John Harvard's doesn't do a good job of cooking the steak in rare...it should be more pink that this!
I had the Mandarin Chicken Salad ($10.99).
It featured hoisin BBQ glazed chicken, baby lettuces, carrots, red cabbage, bok choy, Mandarin oranges, crisp wontons and honey ginger dressing.
The chicken was seasoned with flakes of basil and parsely that weren't strong enough, so I could barely taste the flavor. Also the BBQ sauce on top was a bit overwhelming.
I should have asked to take out the crisp wontons because I ended up hand-picking them out of the dish.
I typically don't like salad dressing, but the honey ginger dressing on the side was so good! It tasted like a mixture of honey mustard and a bit of mayo (couldn't taste ginger), and it added the right amount of sweetness and creaminess to the salad.
The chicken was a bit overcooked and dry, but I dipped it in the honey ginger dressing for added flavor. The greens were pretty fresh--and not the boring iceberg lettuce!
