Danielle Reinhardt was one of thousands of racers who competed in the annualSpartan Race at Citi Field this past weekend. But as she crossed the finish line at the world famous ball park, she realized she had accomplished more than just an intense 3+ mile obstacle race; she also reached one step closer to ending bullying by raising $2,500 for her non-profit, Bigger than the Bully.

Reinhardt is the founder of Bigger than the Bully, which promotes anti-bullying. By focusing on team building through partnership with organizations like Spartan Race, Bigger than the Bully aims to educate people about the importance of inclusion and raise awareness to the issue.
Reinhardt can speak about her personal experience when it comes to bullying. She was bullied growing up due to her looks, which led her to lose confidence and encounter depression. Thanks to her supportive friends and family, however, Reinhardt was able to overcome her differences, accept her imperfect appearance, and learn to love herself. Given her experience, Reinhardt wanted to help and inspire others, and this led to the creation of Bigger than the Bully.
In 2015, her inspiring story was chosen as a finalist for Spartan Race’s #WhyIRace campaign. As she raced in her first elite competition in April, Spartan told the public about Reinhardt’s story to garner more awareness about Bigger than the Bully. At this year’s Spartan Race in Citi Field, Bigger than the Bully partnered with the United Nations to set up a team to run the race and raise funds for the charity.
“Together we can be a voice for those that are too scared or too shy to stand up for themselves,” Reinhardt said.
And Reinhardt is accomplishing this mission, race by race.
