From Elaborate, Victorian-Era Decor To Mouthwatering Cocktails & Bites, Oscar Wilde Is An Absolute Hidden Gem In NYC
Playing homage to the famous Irish Playwright, Oscar Wilde transforms NYC into the Victorian era with its glamorous decor and innovative cocktail & food menus.
Upon stepping into Oscar Wilde in Manhattan's NoMad neighborhood, guests are immediately awe-stricken by the elaborate space. The historic building itself -- designed in 1909 and formerly used as Prohibition Enforcement HQ -- features an ensemble of extraordinary art and objects. Additionally, Oscar Wilde has the longest bar in NYC (measuring at 118.5 feet), as well as French fireplace and Grandfather clock dating back to the 1800s.
The extensive drink menu features unique, innovative cocktails that are sorted into four different categories: Victorian, Prohibition, Wise Guys, and Seasonal. Try the crowd favorite Writer's Block Cocktail, a refreshing blend of Crop Organic Cucumber vodka, muscat grape liquor, lemon, cucumber, and seltzer. The Classic Irish Coffee (hot coffee, Jameson whiskey, and whipped cream) will certainly warm you up during the cold weather.
Appetizers
The food menu includes everything from shareable appetizers to hearty entrees. Some of the favorites are Broccomole, a creamy blend of fresh avocado and broccoli topped with microflowers, red onion, and Thai chili flakes for some extra spice. The dish is served with crispy house-made taro chips. The lightly-battered Dayboat Calamari is complemented by crispy pickled banana peppers and garlic chili aioli. Finally, the Buffalo Cauliflower is an absolute must. Perfectly crunchy, crispy Romanesco cauliflower is tossed in tantalizing house-made honey buffalo sauce with blue cheese cream.
Entrees
The hearty entrees highlight different proteins like lamb, chicken, shrimp, and trout. While chicken is often an underrated dish, the French Cut Chicken Breast features the most tender, moist chicken breast with classic colcannon, an Irish dish of mashed potato and kale. The Pan Seared Lake Trout, prepared with crispy skin and moist flesh, is served over creamy acorn squash puree topped with fresh peas and seared cremini mushrooms. Finally, enjoy the spirilini Autumn Pasta with butternut squash pieces, flavored with local apples, butternut puree, caraway, thyme, and parmesan.
