Freud In NYC’s Greenwich Village Offers Eclectic Menu With Delicious Austrian Fares

Freud offers a contemporary take on brasserie fare inspired by turn-of-the-century Vienna in the Heart of Greenwich Village.

Perfectly al dante, hand-made tagliatelle is mixed in with savory sausage, fennel, maple, diced apple, and chestnut. The creamy, rich sauce of the pasta is balanced with sweet and savory flavors from the maple, apple, and sausage.

The famous Freud Burger features ground beef patty topped with farmhouse Cheddar, onion jam, and diced beets in between grilled potato buns. While the beef patty is a bit on the drier side, the flavors from the sweet onion jam and cheddar add to the juiciness. The burger is served with a side of pickles, crispy pommes frites, and horseradish ketchup.

The strip of lean cut long island duck with a layer of juicy fat is cooked to perfection in medium-rare. The duck is served with bourbon-glazed sunchoke and toasted farro over Chasseur sauce.

The newest menu on the lunch menu, the Schniz’wich features wiener schnizel (fried heritage pig) with pickled cabbage, paprika, aoili, and topped with fried egg in between potato buns. Like the Freud Burger, the Schniz’wich is served with a side of pickles and pommes frites.

Time Out’s annual Battle of the Burger, presented by Budweiser and sponsored by Schweid & Sons, celebrated all the epic burgers in NYC. How many of these tantalizingly delicious burgers have you tried?

1. People’s Choice Award - Kobe Beef Burger by Black Tap

Michelin-starred chef Joe Isidori’s Kobe Beef Burger included blue cheese, buttermilk-dill, and arugula.

2. Judge’s Award - Chelsea Burger by Peter McManus Cafe

The classic Chelsea Burger highlighted simple half-pound patty topped with American cheese, crispy bacon, red onion rings and a slab of fresh tomato.

3. Home Griller Award- Gaucho Burger by Dawn Rajendran

Thick, juicy patty with caramelized onions and green sauce on a giant, fluffy sesame seed bun.

4. Other favorites: Hard Times Sundaes

A juicy patty served with sweet caramelized onions, bacon, and American cheese in between soft potato buns.

5. Other favorites: Genuine Roadside

A mini slider with a kick of gouda cheese, crispy bacon, and savory patty dripping with all the juices.

The eclectic menu at Kimoto Rooftop in Downtown Brooklyn highlights American favorites with an Asian influence that are sophisticated in presentation and playful in concept.

1. Tuna Tartare

Over a bed of creamy, chunky guacamole is a generous portion of fresh raw tuna with pickled jalapeno and sesame seeds. Be sure to scoop up all the goodness on the plate, including the spicy aioli and the sweet soy sauce, with the crunchy, tri-colored tortilla chips on the side.

2. Tempura Basket

The tempura basket features crispy, hot-off-the-fryer tempura that ranges from shrimp to baby calamari in a skewer to potato croquette. The wasabi mayo and the sweet teriyaki sauces that come on the side pair perfectly well with the tempura.

3. Beef Bulgogi Tacos

This fusion dish highlights the cuisines of Mexico and Korea. Stuffed inside crunchy wonton shell are tender beef bulgogi with spicy kimchi slaw. The tacos are topped with thin slices of Asian pair, toasted sesame, and scallion.

4. Spicy Togarashi and Truffle & Parmesan Fries

The flavors of these delicious flavors are further enhanced with spicy togarashi (top) and truffle & parmesan. Perfect accompaniment to your main entrees, the fries have crispy exterior and moist interior.

5. Gochujang BBQ Wings

Forget all the chicken wings you have had in the past - the Gochujang BBQ Wings will completely change your mind! These wings have the crispiest skins with the juiciest meat. The spicy and sweet gochujang BBQ sauce make these wings even more addicting.

6. Kobe Beef Burger

These soft buns are lathered with generous amount of kimchi slaw at the bottom and gochujang bbq sauce on top. The juicy beef pattie is topped with white truffle oil and sprouts.

There are so many combinations to create your perfect burger.

3. Sweet Potato Fries

A side of sweet potato fries is a must. The fries are perfectly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, and packs tons of flavors. You can also add sauces like Bayou mayo or curried sour cream to enhance the flavors.

1. Heirloom Tomato Salad

As delicious as it is colorful, this dish features sliced, tri-colored heirloom tomatoes over a drizzle of olive oil. The tangy blue cheese, crunchy olive croutons, and fresh opal basil add nice flavors and texture to the dish.
